Haldia Institute of Health Sciences is one of the largest private institutes in the state of West Bengal providing undergraduate, postgraduate and diploma level courses in various fields of allied health care studies since the year 2003. It is one of the oldest private institutes of the whole Eastern India. The institute is recognized by the UGC under section 2(f), MHRD, Govt. of India and Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Department of Health and Family Welfare, Swathya Bhawan, Govt. of West Bengal and Department of Higher Education, Bikash Bhawan, Govt. of West Bengal. At present we are conducting four undergraduate level degree coursesBachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) and B.Sc. in Physician Assistant under The West Bengal University of Health Sciences, Kolkata and Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Technology (BMLT) and B.Sc. (Honours) in Nutrition under the Vidyasagar University, Midnapore; six postgraduate courses- M.Sc. MLT (Microbiology), M.Sc. MLT (Biochemistry), MPT in Neurology, MPT in Orthopaedics, M.Sc. in Applied Nutrition and Master of Hospital Administration (MHA) under The West Bengal University of Health Sciences, Kolkata; three diploma coursesDiploma in Radiography (Diagnostic), Diploma in Operation Theatre Technology (DOTT) and Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT) under the State Medical Faculty of West Bengal, Kolkata. In the coming academic sessions, we are trying to introduce two more undergraduate degree courses – B.Sc. (Honours) in Physiology, B.Sc. (Honours) in Microbiology and one postgraduate course – M.Sc. MLT in Pathology and Blood Transfusion under The West Bengal University of Health Sciences, Kolkata. The institute which was earlier known as College of Paramedical Sciences is attached to the 500 bedded multispecialty Dr. B. C. Roy Hospital, Haldia for regular clinical practice and patient related exposure. Besides that we have our very own well equipped Out Patient Physiotherapy clinic and various well equipped ultramodern laboratories. We are blessed to have a bunch of highly qualified and experienced faculty members who ensure personal attention and care for each and every student so that there is well rounded development of the students from all aspects of professional excellence that is required to succeed in this era of cut throat competition. This college follows a continuous system of evaluation which assists to assess the performance of the students from the day on which he or she steps into the college so that examination does not become a mere test of memory. We regularly organize national and international level seminars, hands on workshops involving and inviting well known academician and illuminati from all over the country and abroad to give much needed exposure to the students about recent advancements in the fast developing fields of health sciences. As a result, our students secure top positions in the University examinations year after year. Apart from academic activities our students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities like sports and cultural activities to hone their creative as well as physical skills. They are very active in cultural front also and we arrange regular cultural and extra- curricular activities which includes quiz session, debate, poster and paper presentation besides regular song, dance, drama, recitation etc. Overall, we try our level best to provide a good platform to the aspiring students willing to join the health care service. We try to mould them as per the changing environment and requirement of the fast growing professional field as well as to instill in them the attitude and values required to become a valued and responsible well rounded citizen of the modern India.
