
ACADEMIC
At The Haldia Institute of Health Sciences, Haldia, we have very experienced and efficient teaching faculty in each department. Moreover, we are academically attached to the ICARE Institute of Medical Science & Research, Haldia Institute of Dental Science & Research, Haldia Institute of Technology. Students have access to the Central Libraries of these institutes and we regularly arrange for classes as per our requirement at these institutions with their full support and cooperation.
CLINICAL
The institute has spacious separate laboratories for each department with modern sophisticated equipments and machines. There are five separate laboratories for the Medical Laboratory Technology Department and three separate laboratories for the Department of Nutrition. Besides that, there are separate Physiology and Human Anatomy Laboratory. The college has its own Out Patient Clinic with all the modern equipments and machines for the Department of Physiotherapy. Moreover, we have clinical tie-up with the 500 bedded multispecialty Dr. B.C. Roy Hospital, Haldia; Haldia SubDivisional Hospital, Durgachawk and Purba Medinipur District Hospital, Tamluk to where students are regularly sent for their advanced clinical exposure.
For the mandatory internship period, the students clearing their final semester/year examination, are sent to various Medical College & Hospital as per the requirement of the rules and regulations of the affiliating universities and bodies, like Calcutta Medical College & Hospital, Kolkata; Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research (IPGME&R), Kolkata; School of Tropical Medicine, Kolkata; Dr. B. C. Roy Post Gradute Institute of Paediatric Sciences, Kolkata; Midnapore Medical College & Hospital, Midnapore; RG Kar Hospital; NRS Hospital; ICARE Institute of Medical Science & Research and Dr. B.C. Roy Hospital, Haldia etc.


HOSTEL
The college has off campus separate hostels for both boys and girls with intake capacity of seventy (70) each. Hostels are fully protected with 24-hours security posting. No one, even the parents are not allowed to visit the hostel without proper permission from the authority. Both the girls’ hostel and the boys’ hostel have their own canteen, has 24-hours power back-up and water supply. Students are not allowed outside of the hostel after the evening. They are provided with a cot with mattress and one table and a chair. Both the hostels have common room with television and other means of recreation.
PLAY GROUND
The college has its own large playground attached to its campus. Annual sports competition and Annual Cultural events are organized at this play ground. Students are encouraged to play football, cricket, volleyball, badminton and different types of track and field events etc. at this playground after the college hours. College provides all the necessary equipments and maintains the ground.


GYMNASIUM
The College maintains its own fitness centre. It is located inside the multipurpose hall in sports complex possessing equipment for free weight exercises, bodyweight exercises, gym ball exercises/Swiss ball exercises, resistance band exercises, resistance machine exercises and stretching exercises. The Center also holds classes for kickboxing, yoga and aerobics:
1. Weight training section: This section comprises of weightlifting weights, exercise stations, Swiss balls etc.
2. Cardio section: It consists of treadmills, elliptical trainer, cycles and other equipments of aerobic training.
SEMINAR HALL
The Institute has a fully air-conditioned Seminar Hall with a seating capacity of 300. The seminar hall is regularly used for various cultural as well as academic programs. State level and national level seminars and workshops, organized by various departments are held at this seminar hall. Annual cultural competitions in various fields like song, dance, skit, talent show, quiz, paper presentation etc. are also organized at this seminar hall.


BOYS & GIRLS COMMON ROOM
There are separate common rooms for the girls and boys students at the college. Both the rooms are spacious and are furnished with equipments of amusements and recreation like carom boards, chess boards, Chinese checkers boards, Table tennis etc. Students spend their leisure hours here.
CAFETERIA
The College has in-campus cafeteria. This cafeteria caters refreshment and eatables to the students, faculty and the operating staffs. The cafeteria is very spacious in order to accommodate large number of students and also has comfortable sitting arrangement. The whole ambience of the cafeteria is so soothing and delightful that it tempts you to come here again and again


ANNUAL SPORTS AND CULTURAL COMPETITION
Only studying makes one dull and depressed. Annual cultural and sports competitions are organized at the college each year in the month of December. Students are encouraged to participate in these competitions which are held for few days at the college at the Seminar hall and the playground etc. All the students coming from various departments are grouped into four heterogeneous groups. They fight for the college championship in football, cricket, volleyball, badminton, carom, chess, Chinese checkers, athletics, tug of war etc. in the sports competitions and for songs, dance, recitation, poster and paper presentation, debates, skit, talent show, rangoli, food craft etc.
Saraswati Puja, Biswakarma Puja, Teachers’ day, Rabindra Jayanti, Gandhi Jayanti etc. are celebrated at the college with whole hearted participation from all the departments. Besides these, International Physiotherapy Day, Blood Donation Day, Swachcha BharatAviyan etc. are also celebrated at the college.
FEST AND ALUMNI
In every year, HIHS organizes an annual cultural festival in the month of December or January.After the completion of the annual sports and cultural competition, this festival is organized with active participation of all the staff, students and alumni members. Prizes are distributed to the winners of sports and cultural events as well as to the deserving candidates of each class/year/ semester for their academic excellence. Students showcase their talents by singing, dancing, playing percussions or organizing plays in that evening of joyous extravaganza.
The HIHS Alumni Association, formed with the legitimate permission granted by the College authority has been working for the betterment of the students, present and past. It has its own committee with representative from the college authority, separate Bank account and separate vision, mission, objectives.


ANNUAL COLLEGE MAGAZINE
An annual college magazine, named “Abhigyan” has been published regularly to provide much needed avenue for the students who desire to express their thoughts and ideas in writings, paintings etc. Students are encouraged throughout the year to write their opinion about anything they find interesting. They usually write essays on various topics, short stories, travelogues, poems, plays etc. Faculty members are also encouraged to contribute in the magazine. These were collected, edited, printed and then published on the occasion of College Annual Festival by the honourable Chairman of our institute, Sri Lakshman Seth.
LIBRARY
The college has a large 1600 sq. ft. library in its campus with more than 4000 books and 45 international/ national journals. Students can sit and read at the library. The librarian is always there to help. The college has tie-up with the ICARE Institute of Medical Science & Research, Haldia and the Haldia Institute of Technology and students have access to their central library as well. The central library of the ICARE Institute of Medical Science & Research, Haldia has more than twenty thousand books and 145 journals in various subjects relating to medical science and research


OTHER FACILITIES
• This is one of the oldest and biggest allied healthScience College established in 2003.
• For internship students are sent to various Govt. Medical College and Hospitals.
• Assistance given to get different types of scholarships like minority scholarships; SC, ST, OBC scholarships; different central government, state government and private scholarships etc. for eligible candidate. Nationalized bank,ATM, Post Office, Book Shop, Grocery Shop etc. in campus.
• Free Wi-Fi in campus.
Besides these, the college has its own scholarships which are given on regular basis. These are as follows:
a) Tamalika Panda Seth Merit-cum-Means scholarship amounting Rs. 25,000/- given each year to two deserving candidates.
b) Best out going student scholarships in male & female categories.
c) University ranker scholarship.
